A fundraiser has been established to help the family of Daniel Castillo who was killed Monday in a collision with a wrong-way driver on the 210 Freeway in Claremont.

The chase ended at 1:50 a.m. near Via Verde and the 10 Freeway.

Daniel Castillo, 69, of Fontana, died in a collision that the CHP said was caused by a Santa Clarita woman.

The defendant reported his car stolen. It was recovered by the CHP and DNA testing identified blood on the car as belonging to the victim

A 2-year-old boy was in the car when authorities say that Nicole Thibault, 28, of Santa Clarita, stole it; the boy was dropped off before she entered the freeway.

The incident began with a vehicle theft in San Bernardino; she then drove 20 miles on the wrong side of the freeway.
