Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 1:31 a.m. to the westbound freeway at La Sierra Avenue.

A Toyota Camry was driving west on the freeway when it merged to the right and collided with a Nissan Sentra that was stopped on the shoulder of the freeway, authorities said. 

Both vehicles struck a nearby building after the collision, police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a police officer and causing injury and possessing a stolen vehicle. 

Trial is now set for July 18 instead of Feb. 22. But, the judge said after a 2-hour hearing, “I really urge counsel to settle this case.”

Austin McClusky, 23, of Escondido was the driver during a Friday, Jan. 28, crash that resulted in the death of 24-year-old Julian Munoz of Murrieta, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The driver of a Honda Accord veered onto the right shoulder, striking the rear of the trailer and crushing the car under it. The Honda driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
