3 critically injured in wrong-way crash on 91 Freeway in Riverside

Three people were critically injured and two others had minor to moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Riverside early Sunday on the Riverside (91) Freeway, which authorities said was triggered by a wrong-way driver.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 1:31 a.m. to the westbound freeway at La Sierra Avenue, the City of Riverside Fire Department reported.

Fire personnel reported that two vehicles sustained major damage and that occupants of both had to be extricated from their vehicles.

Three people suffered critical injuries. One person had moderate injuries and another person had minor injuries. All were transported to hospitals.
