Fremont Man Killed in Newark Motorcycle Crash

NEWARK — A 28-year-old Fremont man died Wednesday when his motorcycle and a vehicle collided at about 9:20 p.m.

The motorcycle was moving riding north on Cedar, when a vehicle make left turn from Dupont collided with it.

The driver of the second vehicle stayed on the scene.

First responders rendered aid in an effort to save the motorcyclist’s life, but he died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. The name of the victim is being withheld by authorities pending notification of his family.

San Francisco Police Arrest Market St Homicide Suspect 22-146(a)

On October 11, 2022, at approximately 8:26 p.m., San Francisco Police Officers assigned to Mission Station responded to the 2000 block of Market Street on a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and discovered an adult male being treated by paramedics for stab wounds. The medics transported the victim to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased in the hospital.  

Investigators from the San Francisco Police Homicide Detail responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Through the course of the investigation the suspect was identified as Christopher Redinger of San Francisco. On December 8, 2022, at approximately 5:56 p.m. investigators located Redinger on the 900 block of Bryant St. and developed probable cause to arrest him. Redinger was transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked for homicide (187 (a) PC) and probation violation (1203.2(a) PC).

San Francisco Police Arrest Ambulance Carjacking Suspect 22-175

Suspect vandalized, carjacked, and then attempted to run over SFFD medics  

On August 29, 2022, at approximately 6:55 a.m., San Francisco Police Officers assigned to Mission Station responded to the area of 1700 Harrison Street on a report of an unknown male breaking into a San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) ambulance. 

Upon arrival, officers met with the two SFFD paramedics who stated that the male suspect used a wooden object to smash the windows of the ambulance while they were sitting inside of it. After both victims exited the ambulance for safety, the suspect was able to gain access to the ambulance, and then attempted to run the paramedics over. The suspect then abandoned the ambulance and fled on foot. 

The SFPD General Work unit took over the investigation.  SFPD CSI officers gathered forensic evidence on scene and analyzed it. With SFPD CSI’s assistance, investigators developed information that identified 33-year-old Francisco Vargas-Osario as the suspect. Investigators developed probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Vargas-Osario and disseminated the information through a department-wide email.

San Francisco Police Investigates Bayview Homicide 22-174

On December 9, 2022, at approximately 8:15 pm San Francisco Police officers assigned to Bayview Station responded to a home located on the 100 Block of Orsi Circle. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult female victim suffering from possible stab wounds. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene who transported the victim to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of the medical staff the victim succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased in the hospital. Officers who arrived on scene also detained an adult male suspected for the stabbing. 

Investigators from the San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Investigators developed probable cause to arrest the male for the stabbing. 

The suspect is identified as Than Zin, a 28-year-old male from San Francisco. Vin was transported to San Francisco County Jail where he was booked for homicide (187 PC).

SJPD Investigating Traffic Fatality #62

On December 14, 2022, at approximately 1:59 AM, Officers responded to the area of Capitol Expressway and Seven Trees Boulevard to investigate a solo vehicle traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2002 Acura Sedan, driven by an adult male driver, was traveling eastbound on Capitol Expressway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a palm tree in the center median, south of Seven Trees Boulevard. 

The male driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This is the 62nd fatal collision, and the 64th traffic death of 2022.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
