Man Killed in One Car Crash Early Wednesday in Tulare County

A solo-vehicle accident early Wednesday in Tulare County near Visalia claimed a man’s life.

The crash occurred at about 1 a.m. on West Street, north of Cartmill Avenue, in an unincorporated region of Tulare County, according to the California Highway Patrol. 

The Visalia Area Office of the California Highway Patrol sent officers to the location to conduct an investigation.

According to their initial findings, a man  was driving a Honda Civic northbound on West Street, north of Cartmill Avenue.

The Honda veered off the road and onto West Street’s east shoulder for an unknown reason and struck a light pole.

Five Vehicles Collide, Backing up Traffic on Pacific Coast Highway

Following a multi-vehicle car accident on Tuesday night, traffic on Pacific Coast Highway from Pacific Avenue to Pine Avenue was closed.

Around 7:46 p.m., five cars were involved in a collision. Police and fire officers arrived shortly after witnesses and onlookers gathered at the scene. Authorities said that no life-threatening injuries appeared to have occurred.

The eastbound and westbound lanes of PCH were both closed for hours, causing traffic to back up.

DUI Suspected in Visalia Crash on HWY 198

FRESNO – A driver who had been allegedly under the influence of alcohol crashed and hit a tree near Visalia, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP believes Gabriel Meza, 31, from Exeter, had been driving eastbound on Highway 198 at Road 180 soon after midnight on Saturday. Officers state he drifted onto the dirt to the south and collided with a tree.

Mesa suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to a nearby hospital.

Fresno Man Rear Ends Clovis Police Officer, Suspected DUI

A Clovis police officer escaped injury early Sunday morning after his patrol car was hit by car and investigators say the driver of the vehicle may have been under the influence.

Investigators believe the driver of the automobile that struck the Clovis police officer’s patrol car early on Sunday morning may have been under the influence of alcohol. Fortunately, the officer was unharmed.

The officer was reportedly sitting in his patrol cruiser, his emergency lights flashing, while he was looking into a collision on Willow, north of Gettysburg, according to the Clovis Police Department. A car sped across the intersection shortly after 1 in the morning, ignoring the cones that were positioned to keep cars away.

According to the department that’s when the other car, driven by 53-year-old Choua Xiong of Fresno, collided with the rear of the patrol car’s driver-side bumper and then fled the scene.

Officers say another Clovis police officer was able to pull Xiong over a block away and take him into custody.  He was booked into the Fresno County Jail for suspicion of DUI and hit & run.

The department says they are grateful no one was injured in the incident and says the officer will be back on duty Sunday night.  They also ask that if anyone would like to report a suspected DUI driver, to please call 9-1-1.

20-Vehicles Crash in Snow on 10 Freeway in Yucaipa

Eight people sustained serious injuries. as 20 cars, trucks and big rigs collided on a snowy Wednesday night on the 10 Freeway in Yucaipa.

The crash occurred as snow fell just before 10:25 p.m. in the westbound lanes at Wildwood Canyon Road. Witnesses reported slick roadways were to blame for the pile up.

CHP officials said speed and driver error also played a factor in the collision.

Video of the collision showed that big rigs and passenger cars were among the vehicles involved.

The westbound lanes remained closed for several hours while the highway was cleared.

CHP Probes Deadly Crash on Interstate 580 near MacArthur Maze

The California Highway Patrol said that a person lost their life early on Wednesday in a two-car collision on a freeway transition close to the MacArthur Maze.

According to the agency, the collision occurred at 4:40 a.m. on westbound Interstate 580 at the intersection with eastbound Interstate 80. According to the CHP, one of the automobiles overturned and landed on its roof.

The agency lacked any other information regarding what transpired during the collision.

While waiting to notify the next of kin, authorities chose not to publicly name the person.

Sinthia Fernandez Identified As San Jose Woman Killed in Merced Crash

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office on Friday identified the 22-year-old woman, who was killed last week when her vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, as Sinthia Fernandez of San Jose.

The California Highway Patrols believes Fernandez was driving south when her vehicle veered directly into the path a of a 24-year-old man driving a pickup truck north.

On impact, Fernandez’s car overturned. Although efforts were made to save Fernandez’s life, she died at the scene of the crash. The man in the truck was injured, but CHP says he declined medical treatment.

Rollover Crash on Highway 198 in Lemoore Kills 2 People

Two people were killed in a rollover wreck  in Lemoore on Monday morning,  as previously reported first by CCAR.

At about 7:15  a.m., 911 callers reported a gray Subaru rolled westbound highway 198 and west of highway 41. The vehicle had landed on the north shoulder of highway 198.

When officers arrived they found a 24-year old person and other occupant of about the same age. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP has yet to publicly identify the two people killed. The coroner will conduct toxicology tests to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor.

While fog cut visibility down to about 1,000 feet, CHP told a local news station that they do not believe it was a factor.

Man Killed While Riding Scooter in San Jacinto

Arthur St. Clair lost his life when the scooter he was riding and an SUV collided on South San Jacinto Avenue near Midway Street.

The 35-year-old Norco man’s life ended at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

St. Clair was riding northbound on San Jacinto Avenue,  when his scooter and  Chevrolet Suburban crashed.

The driver of the Chevy stayed at the scene. He has yet to be ticketed or charged in connection with the crash, according to published reports. .
