Police: High BMW Driver Kills Classic Chevy Owner in Deadly Vallejo Crash
When a 1965 Chevrolet sedan broke down, its driver to hopped out and another vehicle pulled over to help, but a 2013 BMW SUV driven by an allegedly intoxicated 30-year-old smashed into them.
The 44-year-old classic car driver and Fairfield resident was killed. His two passengers, a 48-year-old resident of American Canyon and 41-year-old Fairfield resident were injured. A third vehicle, a 1999 Honda was also struck. It had stopped to help the disabled Chevy.
The three-car wreck happened a little before 8 p.m. in the 4200 block of Sonoma Boulevard.
According to police: The BMW’s driver, a 30-year-old Vallejo resident, was intoxicated and driving north on Sonoma Boulevard when it smashed into the chevy and its operator, who was outside his disabled vehicle.
The BMW’s driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
The tragic death marks a grim milestone for Vallejo. Its 24th traffic fatality this year is the most in city history.
