Driver Arrested After Pedestrian Struck in Downtown Oakley

OAKLEY — Police said they arrested a woman who drove the vehicle that struck a pedestrian in downtown Oakley late Tuesday evening.

The woman, who was driving a silver SUV, fled the scene. But police posted a photo of her vehicle to social media to identify and apprehend her .

The collision happened at 7:10 p.m., as the SUV drove eastbound on Main Street at Norcross Lane in traffic at about 25 mph. The injured woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she was treated for head and arm injuries and released, Foreman said.

Woman Struck and Killed by Truck

California Highway Patrol believes the woman drove her car into oncoming traffic causing the crash that ended her life.

It occurred at about 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, when the  woman was driving a Honda eastbound on Kent Ave, a little west of State Route 43. A freight-liner truck driving northbound collided with her honda

The Honda was sent careening off the roadway. Its 47-year-old driver died from her injuries at the hospital.

One Killed in Crash Near Rio Vista Sunday evening

One person died  Sunday evening when they were involved in a two-vehicle crash near Rio Vista.

Firefighters responded to the crash on Highway 160 at Highway 12 at 9:41 p.m.

They  found two vehicles with major damage, one had careened down an embankment leaving the driver trapped.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to free the the trapped driver, but air support, they said, was not an option. They rushed him via ambulance to the hospital, but the driver died.
