On Nov. 26, 2021 at approximately 9:02 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision involving a single vehicle at southbound Lakewood Boulevard and the northbound 405 Freeway on-ramp, which resulted in the death of a female adult.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle—involved in a collision, that was engulfed in fire. Officers utilized fire extinguishers in an attempt to put out the fire until the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. Shortly after, Fire Department personnel located an adult female driver who had succumbed to her injuries inside the vehicle.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Chrysler 300, driven by an adult female, was traveling southbound on Lakewood Boulevard when it collided into the freeway sign and guard rail for the ramp onto the 405 Freeway.
No other vehicles are believed to be involved in this collision and there were no other occupants in the vehicle. It is unknown at this time if impaired or distracted driving was a factor in this collision.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded and will assist in identifying the driver.
