When officers arrived, they learned the bicyclist had been determined deceased by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2010 International semi-truck with trailer, being driven by a 50-year-old male resident of Rancho Cucamongo, was traveling northbound on the 103 Freeway north of Pacific Coast Highway when it collided with the bicycle. The bicycle had been traveling illegally across the northbound lanes of the freeway at the time it was struck.
The bicyclist, a male who appeared in his approximate 60’s, had no identifying information on him and is currently listed as a John Doe. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will determine his identity. The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene and was interviewed and released.
Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to call Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Detail Detective Sirilo Garcia at (562) 570-7355.
