On April 12, 2017 at approximately 7:49 A.M. Officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to Lakewood Boulevard and Conent St. on a report of a motorcycle colliding into a semi-truck and trailer.
The initial investigation of the collision found that the driver of the motorcycle was a 27 year old male resident of South Gate and the driver of the semi-truck and trailer was a 33 year old male resident of Compton.
The semi-truck and trailer were stopped at a driveway in the 3400 block of Lakewood Boulevard waiting to enter the Long Beach Airport to make a delivery. The motorcycle was traveling southbound Lakewood Boulevard at a high rate of speed. The motorcyclist moved from the number 3 lane into the number 4 lane and collided with the truck waiting to enter the Airport.
Long Beach Fire personnel responded and determined the driver of the motorcycle to be deceased on scene.
The name of the motorcyclist is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
