On July 21, 2018, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Studebaker Road and Driscoll Street regarding a single vehicle injury traffic collision, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Upon arrival, officers found the involved vehicle was occupied by a driver and three passengers. The driver and front passanger of the vehicle where both injuried and transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel.
The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, Juan Serrano, a 23-year-old male resident of Anaheim, was traveling southbound in the #2 lane of Studebaker Rd. As Serrano passed through the intersection of Driscoll St, his vehicle drifted left and collided with the raised center median and veered right across all southbound lanes of Studebaker Rd. The vehicle then collided with the raised center median and light pole between Studebaker Rd. and the service road of Studebaker Rd. The light pole and Serrano’s vehicle then collided with a parked motorhome on the service road of Studebaker Rd. before coming to a stop.
The front passenger, identified as a 19-year-old resident of Huntington Beach, was transported in critical, but stable condition. The rear passengers were both females, age 18 and 20-years-old, residents of Stanton. The rear passengers were uninjured in this collision and remained at the scene of the collision.
On July 27, 2018 officers were notified by hospital personnel that Serrano had died as a result of his injuries.
