Deadly, Gas-Fueled Fire and Crash Caused by Reckless Driver

A black pickup truck was driving recklessly on the 10 Freeway Saturday morning, before it smashed into a divider, bounced back into traffic and crashed into a Honda minivan.

The gray Honda minivan overturned, leaving at least one van occupant trapped inside the vehicle, as first responders raced to the scene of the 5:40 a.m. crash on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Crenshaw Boulevard, according to CHP Dispatch Logs.

An off-duty LAPD officer was first on the scene. The off-duty officer reported gas was leaking from the overturned minivan. Los Angeles firefighters rapidly responded, but a fire broke out first.

At least one person inside the van died in that fire. An investigator for the Los Angeles County coroner was called to the scene 15 minutes after the crash was first reported.

Up to two additional vehicles were also struck in the collision, according to CHP dispatch logs. The condition of those occupants was not immediately available.

CHP logs did not indicate whether the driver of the black pickup truck was arrested.

Los Angeles Police Ask for Public’s Help in Finding Hit-and-Run Dump Truck Driver

Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s help in finding a hit-and-run dump truck driver, who struck and seriously injured a 47-year-old woman in Sun Valley.

What witnessed described as a large red dump truck was southbound on Lankershim Boulevard at 3:10 a.m. on Wednesday,  when it turned right onto Kewen Avenue and struck the woman, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The truck and driver fled the scene. First responders brought the woman to a hospital with serious injuries.

Intoxicated Driver Kills Pedestrian and Three Dogs in Downtown Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — An intoxicated driver struck a young man, killing him and his dogs, as they crossed a downtown-Los Angeles street in a large crosswalk, according to police accounts.

The driver, then struck several other cars during the crash. He was arrested at the scene of the 12:20 a.m. crash at Fifth and Hill streets in Pershing Square.  

The victim, was in his late 20s to early 30s. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The dogs were also killed in the  collision.

8 people were hospitalized after a collision in Antelope Valley

After a collision at an Antelope valley intersection in Unincorporated Los Angeles County, eight people had to be hospitalized.

According to  California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 170th Street West, Highway 138.

Four people with serious injuries, one with critical and two with severe were flown by helicopter to  hospitals. Two others with moderate injuries were transported via ambulance. The  driver of the other vehicle was also taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Caltrans was asked to close the intersection during the investigation and cleanup.
