The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon in the area of Mulberry Avenue and Jurupa Avenue, police said.

At least eight vehicles were involved in a crash early Tuesday morning on the westbound 210 Freeway in San Dimas, prompting the closure of the carpool and No. 1 lanes until further notice.

It happened on Victoria Avenue near John Street about 4:30 p.m. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

Investigators believe the suspect blew through a red light and initiated a collision that left a 21-year-old woman dead, officials said.

The man identified as the pilot does not appear in the FAA’s license registry.

It “starts by acknowledging that we cannot rely on an armed police presence for every issue and we need smarter, more effective solutions,” said LA Councilman Mike Bonin.

The crash happened when a driver tried to make an illegal left turn, authorities said. That driver was killed.

The chase started in Azusa about 8 p.m. Monday.
