Ernest Hardaway Sr., 80, tried to avoid traffic that stopped in front of him but spun out.

Javier Calleja, 22, died in the crash on U.S. Highway 395.

Troy Fredrick Varnado, 25, of Compton, was reportedly walking in traffic. The CHP has identified one person of interest.

The head-on wreck happened on I-10 northwest of Tucson.

A 29-year-old man died after he crashed his motorcycle into the center divider of the westbound 10 Freeway in San Dimas late Wednesday, causing him to be thrown off his bike and then struck by a vehicle, authorities said.

The wreck happened just before 2 p.m. on southbound I-15.

The Redlands Police Department said the 82-year-old Big Bear resident was stopped by traffic investigators and voluntarily gave a statement before he was arrested.

He had initially denied a murder charge, but has since pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol, said prosecutors.
