The Pomona Police Department said the driver of the other vehicle in the crash remained at the scene.

The Fontana Police Department said the pursuit of the suspected stolen vehicle started in Fontana, went to Upland and ended just off the 10 Freeway in Montclair.

Members of the Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton had been deployed to participate in Exercise Native Fury.

Claudia Lucrey, 29, of Riverside, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department and other Los Angeles-area law enforcement agencies have struggled with keeping confidential information in high-profile cases from being shared in the past.

The 33-year-old was driving under the influence, authorities said.

The suspect, a 37-year-old Norco man, was eventually taken into custody after hitting a dead end.

“California peace officers can cite on any public roadway and/or make an arrest anywhere within the state of California,” said Lt. Joses Walehwa of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The rider was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead.
