SFPD Investigates Embarcadero Homicide 23-026

On February 27, 2023, at approximately 12:40 am, San Francisco Police officers from Central Station responded to the area of Pier 5 for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located a 43-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

Investigators from the SFPD Homicide Detail responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

San Francisco Police Investigate Bayview District Homicide 23-014

On January 31, 2023, at approximately 7:21 a.m., San Francisco Police officers assigned to Bayview Station responded to the 100 block of Hester Avenue on a report of a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male with an apparent gunshot wound inside a parked vehicle. Officers summoned medical personnel to the scene.

The SFPD Homicide Detail took over the investigation.

San Francisco Police Investigate Threats, Shots Fired & Firearm Brandishing Incidents 23-015

On Thursday, February 2, 2023, at approximately 9:26 am officers responded to a Jewish Synagogue located on the 2600 block of Balboa St. regarding a report of threats. Officers arrived on scene and met with the caller who mentioned that on Wednesday, February 1 at approximately 7:20 pm an unknown male entered the building during a gathering. The male subject made a verbal statement, pulled out a firearm, and shot several times inside the building. The subject exited the building and fled the scene. There were no reports of injury or property damage. Officers seized the expended casings that were fired, which are being investigated as possible blanks. No arrest has been made for this open and active investigation.     

On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at approximately 8:00 pm officers responded to a theater located on the 3600 block of Balboa St. regarding a person with a gun. Officers arrived on scene and met with an employee of the theater who stated that an unknown male subject spoke with employees while looking at merchandise. During this interaction, the subject pulled out a handgun and brandished it. The subject fled the scene on foot on Balboa St. There was no report of injury or property damage. Officers searched for the subject to no avail.   

Based on these recent reports, which appear to be unrelated, the subject’s description is similar and is possibly the same individual.
