On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., the San Francisco Police Department will be joined by Mayor London Breed to recognize six officers who went beyond the call of duty, showing bravery, professionalism, and compassion in their work. The officers will be specially recognized during the Officer of the Month Award Ceremony at City Hall.
The officers and sergeants honored are:
Officer Howard Brown from Park Station, responded to a burglary in progress on December 4th, 2023, in the area of Clarendon Heights neighborhood. Due to officer Brown’s thorough investigation, the suspect was arrested within hours of the incident. Officer Brown’s diligent efforts in putting together the case led to the suspect being held to answer for her actions.
Officer Dustin Colclough from Taraval Station was designated lead investigator in an extensive narcotics sell investigation in a liquor store on October 4, 2023. Officer Colclough’s investigation led to search warrants and coordinated efforts with city agencies to flag the dangerous conditions of the establishment. This extensive investigation successfully led to the stop of illegal narcotics sales that were negatively affecting the safety of residents in the Lakeview area.
Officer Norman Bobila and Officer Brian Alston from Richmond Station, responded to a commercial burglary at 16th Ave and Geary Street where the officers’ efforts led to the quick apprehension of the suspect. Officer Bobila and Officer Alston were also involved in the investigation of a hot prowl burglary near the 2100 block of Baker Street. Through the officers’ diligent work, superb documentation, and investigative skills, suspects were quickly apprehended.
Sergeant Ricardo Guerrero and Sergeant Tri Hoang from Ingleside Station were determined to create a safe place for community members to shop, developed a retail abatement plan that has led to multiple arrests on a weekly basis in their district. Through their operations, officers and sergeants from other district stations are replicating their plans to implement successful retail theft abatement operations. These plans are helping create a safer shopping experience for the entire San Francisco Community.

Investigator Arrests Suspect while Conducting Follow-Up Investigation
On January 4, 2024, at approximately 6:01 p.m., San Francisco Police officers from Taraval station responded to a business on the 1400 block of Ocean Avenue regarding an armed robbery. Officers arrived on scene and met with the victim, a 19-year-old male, who stated that he was working behind the counter when an armed, unknown male entered the business, walked behind the counter, and took U.S. Currency. The suspect then fled southbound on Miramar Avenue from Ocean Avenue.
On January 17, 2024, an investigator was conducting a follow-up in the area where the robbery occurred when the suspect was seen nearby. 26-year-old Haoli Weng was arrested and booked on the charge of robbery (211 PC). A search of the suspect’s home yielded a firearm.
