UPDATE: One Killed in San Pablo Crash and Car Pileup

The driver of a black Honda CRV died early Saturday when his vehicle flipped, resulting in a multi-car pileup on Interstate 80 eastbound in San Pablo, as reported first by CCAR.

According to CHP Officer Adib Zeid, the first reports that reached the agency before six in the morning suggested that one vehicle had overturned on eastbound I-80 at the San Pablo Dam Road exit. He claimed that the driver got out of his car but was killed by another vehicle after being hit.

Before CHP arrived on the scene, a number of additional vehicles collided with the overturned vehicle, but no additional injuries were reportedly suffered.

The damaged CRV ended up lying on its roof, upside down, in the center of Interstate 80.

The investigation and cleanup following the crash forced a complete shutdown.

Fresno Man Rear Ends Clovis Police Officer, Suspected DUI

A Clovis police officer escaped injury early Sunday morning after his patrol car was hit by car and investigators say the driver of the vehicle may have been under the influence.

Investigators believe the driver of the automobile that struck the Clovis police officer’s patrol car early on Sunday morning may have been under the influence of alcohol. Fortunately, the officer was unharmed.

The officer was reportedly sitting in his patrol cruiser, his emergency lights flashing, while he was looking into a collision on Willow, north of Gettysburg, according to the Clovis Police Department. A car sped across the intersection shortly after 1 in the morning, ignoring the cones that were positioned to keep cars away.

According to the department that’s when the other car, driven by 53-year-old Choua Xiong of Fresno, collided with the rear of the patrol car’s driver-side bumper and then fled the scene.

Officers say another Clovis police officer was able to pull Xiong over a block away and take him into custody.  He was booked into the Fresno County Jail for suspicion of DUI and hit & run.

The department says they are grateful no one was injured in the incident and says the officer will be back on duty Sunday night.  They also ask that if anyone would like to report a suspected DUI driver, to please call 9-1-1.

One Killed and Others Injured in Crash on I-80 in San Pablo

A deadly crash kills at least one and injures others on eastbound Interstate 80 in San Pablo early Saturday morning

The wreck happened a little after 5 a.m., on the interstate’s eastbound lanes, near San Pablo Dam Road, according to CHP records.

Motorists called to repot debris blocking all lanes of the roadway.

A helicopter was quickly called in to airlift the severely injured. One motorist in the crash had stopped breathing by 5:26 a.m.

Big Rig Hauling Cow Feed Rolls Over Sedan in Deadly Crash on Route 58 Crash Near Hinkley

A big rig hauling cow feed and silver sedan collided early Saturday on State Route 58 west of Hinkley, leaving the sedan pinned under the semi truck’s trailer.

That crash occurred at about 2 a.m., on the westbound stretch of road that runs from Hinkley to Kramer Junction, according to CHP records.

The silver sedan became trapped under the truck’s feed trailer. At least one person in the sedan died on the scene. The San Bernardino County coroner responded to the scene.

It’s unclear weather roadway conditions were a factor in the deadly collision, as snow felly on the high desert Friday.

EDCO Garbage Truck Smashes Utility Pole in Deadly El Cajon Crash

An EDCO garbage truck crashed into a utility police on Manzanita Road in El Cajon Friday evening, leaving at least one person dead.

The crash occurred at about 5:30 p.m. where Manzanita Road intersects with Legendale Drive, according to CHP records.

The utility pole was left standing with only minor damage to its base. It’s unclear if slick roads played a role in the wreck that occurred as a snowstorm moved through Southern California.

20-Vehicles Crash in Snow on 10 Freeway in Yucaipa

Eight people sustained serious injuries. as 20 cars, trucks and big rigs collided on a snowy Wednesday night on the 10 Freeway in Yucaipa.

The crash occurred as snow fell just before 10:25 p.m. in the westbound lanes at Wildwood Canyon Road. Witnesses reported slick roadways were to blame for the pile up.

CHP officials said speed and driver error also played a factor in the collision.

Video of the collision showed that big rigs and passenger cars were among the vehicles involved.

The westbound lanes remained closed for several hours while the highway was cleared.

Tractor Trailer Jackknifed on 60 FWY in Boyle Heights

A tractor trailer jackknifed on the 60 Freeway in Boyle Heights late Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at about 11:45 a.m. on the westbound side of the highway near the Indiana Street exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The big rig was hauling at least three vehicles when it went on its side. Aerial video showed the truck blocking several lanes of the highway and traffic in the area backed up for miles.

CHP Probes Deadly Crash on Interstate 580 near MacArthur Maze

The California Highway Patrol said that a person lost their life early on Wednesday in a two-car collision on a freeway transition close to the MacArthur Maze.

According to the agency, the collision occurred at 4:40 a.m. on westbound Interstate 580 at the intersection with eastbound Interstate 80. According to the CHP, one of the automobiles overturned and landed on its roof.

The agency lacked any other information regarding what transpired during the collision.

While waiting to notify the next of kin, authorities chose not to publicly name the person.

Deadly Crash Near Chico Snarls Traffic on Highway 32, Delaying Trauma Team

A head-on crash near Chico killed one-person, seriously injured two others and left the trauma surgeon stuck in traffic that slowed along Highway 32, according to CHP records and broadcast news reports.

The crash occurred just after 3 p.m. on Friday, when CHP believes 27-year-old Miguel Velazquez raced into oncoming traffic on Highway 32.

In the oncoming lane was a 1999 Chevy pickup truck. The driver tried to swerve in an effort to avoid the sports car, but the two vehicles collided.

The crash sent debris exploding across the two-lane stretch of Highway 32 that runs west from Chico to Orland. 

A nurse, who was at the scene of the crash, joined efforts to rescue survivors. One person couldn’t be freed from the wreckage until Butte County firefighter arrived

A 22-year-old woman, who was riding in the Acura sports car, died at the scene of the crash. Velazquez and the driver of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries.
