A helicopter crashed in Calabasas on its way to Kobe Bryant’s youth basketball academy.

Hundreds attended a community vigil Sunday night to honor those who died.

A “Go Team” is in Southern California for the investigation, apparently arriving Sunday night. That team was expected to consist of 18 people.

The helicopter that crashed on Sunday in Calabasas, carrying nine people including Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, 41, his daughter Gianna, 13, an Orange County baseball coach and others, took off from John Wayne Airport on the way to Bryant’s Mamba Academy in Newbury Park.

Altobelli was selected as the national coach of the year in 2019 after he led OCC to a state championship.

The crash, in the area of Las Virgenes Road and Willow Glen Street, was called in at 9:47 a.m.

Four others were injured in the crash on Railroad Canyon Road near Goetz Road.
