Two others in the car that slammed into a palm tree Friday night had moderate injuries, firefighters said.

The vehicle caught fire after the 3 a.m. crash, and the victim was trapped inside, CalFire said.

Montebello police Lt. Christopher Cervantes had been previously arrested on suspicion of DUI in Diamond Bar in 2015, though was not charged in the case.
