The right four lanes and one of the toll lanes were closed for the clean-up, the CHP said.

The suspect had previously been convicted of DUI, and had been warned of the dangers of driving while intoxicated, officials said.

The crash happened about 4:20 a.m. on De Anza Drive. The pedestrian perished at the scene.

Central Aveune between Canyon Crest Drive and Chapala Drive was expected to be closed for several hours, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Catalina Esteves of Calimesa died in the crash on Gilman Springs Road. Lomita resident Jose Angel Perez, 18, was fleeing a hit-and-run and was under the influence of marijuana, the CHP said.

The CHP said the Corvette and the Camaro were traveling “at speeds in excess of 65 mph” on the northbound 15.

The crash was reported at 2:39 a.m. Monday on the westbound 91 Freeway east of Maple Street.

The suspect, Eric Ortega, is father to two of the children and uncle to the other three, authorities said.

The solo-vehicle crash occurred Friday night on the westbound side of the freeway.
