Pedestrian Struck and Killed Near 215 Off Ramp in Riverside

Details:

On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, about 6:46 PM, deputies from the Perris Station responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian at the southbound I-215 Freeway offramp at D Street in the City of Perris. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male pedestrian suffering from major injuries. The male was treated by emergency personnel and pronounced deceased. The driver of the involved vehicle, a 37-year-old male resident of Perris, was not injured and remained at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicated the pedestrian was walking across the roadway near the off-ramp, when he was struck by the oncoming vehicle.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. The identity of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office once positive identification can be established and next of kin can be notified.

Man Arrested in Hit-and-Run that killed cyclist in San Jacinto

SAN JACINTO — A Hemet man Monday faces vehicular manslaughter and other charges in the hit-and-run collision that killed a bicyclist in San Jacinto.

Sunday at 8:21 p.m. at the intersection of State Street and Dillon Avenue deputies responded to reports of a man down in the roadway.

Witnesses reported that the victim was he center median on State Street with his bicycle when he was struck by a white Hyundai that sped off.

The victim died at the scene. The suspect’s license plate was written down by a witness and traced back to a 21-year-old from Hemet, named Savaughn Jojuan Colon Barnes.

He was arrested Monday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run causing death. His bail was set at $100,000.

Suspected Drunken Driver Arrested in Crash that Killed 2 Near West Covina

A suspected drunken driver was arrested on charges related to the crash that killed Arcely Echeverria and Jordan Gomez over the weekend

The coroner’s office identified Echeverria, 24, of La Puente and Gomez, 31, of Azusa, as two of the passengers in the Acura RSX that Michael Maya, 26, of Covina, is accused of driving, while drunken, at a high speed before the 7:30 a.m. crash on Gran Avenue, just south of Virginia Avenue, in an unincorporated county area near West Covina.

The RSX slammed into parked cars killing the two, injuring a third woman in the backseat. Maya was also injured in the crash.

Echeverria died at the scene. Gomez died at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

Hit and run on I-880 in Oakland flips big rig, killing driver

A hit-and-run crash on Interstate 880 in Oakland flipped a semi-truck early Friday morning, igniting the big rig and killing the trapped trapped driver.

At about1 a.m., a white Ford Crown Victoria and another dark-colored sedan were speeding southbound on I-880 near Broadway. The Crown Victoria car tried to pass the International big rig, smashed into the truck’s driver’s side.

The semi hit the highway barrier, flipped and went up in flams. The truck’s driver was trapped inside. He burned to death. The driver of the Crown Victoria was picked up by a different car. Police have yet to make an arrest.

New York City man killed in Alameda crash

ALAMEDA — Nathan Stieber is the name of the 37-year-old man who was killed when his vehicle struck a light pole after exiting the Webster Street Tube, the Alameda County Coroner’s Office revealed Friday.

The crash occurred at about 10:45 p.m. , according to reports.  Firefighters extricated Stieber from the wreckage. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The Webster Tube was closed Thursday into Friday, as police gathered evidence. No further information about the crash or its cause has been publicly released.

Dinuba Police looking for a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run in Central Valley

DINUBA, Calif. – Detectives with the Dinuba Police Department seek the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run that occurred earlier this month.

Police said the fatal hit-and-run took place on November 19, 2022, around 9:00 p.m.  The  suspect’s vehicle is described as a 2016 to 2021 blue Honda Civic. Police said the vehicle’s front bumper was damaged in the collision.

Stepdaughter of LA’s Mayor-elect Bass Hurt in Hit-and-Run

A stepdaughter of Karen Bass sustained minor injuries on Thursday, Dec. 1, when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a hit-and-run motorist, the Los Angeles mayor-elect said in a statement.

“While driving today, one of my daughters was the victim of a hit-and-run,” the statement said.

“Thankfully, she was not seriously hurt and is home after being cared for at the hospital,” Bass said. “I am grateful for the first responders and healthcare professionals who ensured her well-being.”

Bass did not state which of her stepdaughters was injured.

Bass’ biological daughter, Emilia Bass-Lechuga,  died in a 2006 car crash with her son-in-law, according to her campaign website.
