Just after 4 p.m., Chicas and the second landscaper had been working in the 5900 block of Edison Avenue and were attaching the trailer to the truck when a 2011 Toyota Yaris, reportedly driven by Bobby Bustos, 26, of Corona, struck the trailer, according to investigators.
Both workers were pinned between the warning-signal trailer and their truck, police said.
Edison Avenue was closed for approximately six hours between Oaks and Magnolia avenues. The cause of the fatal crash is still under investigation.
