POMONA >> A woman is in critical but stable condition after she was reportedly stabbed several times by her boyfriend late Saturday night.
Martin Gregory Gallegos, 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and mayhem, according to a Pomona police news release.
Just before 11 p.m., officers were called to a crash in the area of the 800 block of N. Hill Street, a curvy narrow road that overlooks Ganesha Pool Park.
Inside the damaged vehicle, officers found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds, officials said. Los Angeles County Fire personnel airlifted the woman to a hospital where she is recovering, authorities said.
Officers found Gallegos and initially arrested him on suspicion of drunk in public, police officials said. Through an investigation, officers reportedly found evidence tying him to the crime. He was later booked on the attempted murder and mayhem offenses. Mayhem was added due to the number of times the woman was stabbed, police authorities said.
Gallegos was booked into Pomona jail.
A motive for the stabbing has not been released.
