POMONA >> A pursuit that started in Chino ended when the driver crashed into the San Antonio Creek Channel wash basin Tuesday morning and died, Pomona officials said.
The unidentified driver crashed around 8:30 a.m. at Franklin Avenue just east of South East End Avenue, according to a Pomona police statement.
Chino police began the pursuit, which made its way into Pomona, according to authorities.
The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, the police statement said and eventually, the driver reportedly lost control sending the vehicle into the San Antonio Creek Channel wash basin.
The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by Chino Valley fire personnel.
Chino police are investigating the pursuit and the Pomona Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the crash.
