Two Hemet residents were identified as among the three killed early Saturday when their car crashed, became disabled on the 60 Freeway in Jurupa Valley and then was hit by another car.
On Saturday night, the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau identified two of the three victims as Jose Perez, 27, and Omar Arambula, 24, both of Hemet. The third victim’s name, age and hometown have not been released
The crash happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday on the eastbound 60 near Country Village Road. A 1995 Honda Accord with three people inside crashed into the center divider for reasons still under investigation and became disabled, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It came to rest in traffic lanes with its lights off. A 2016 Ford Fusion then hit the Honda, according to the CHP.
One of the Honda’s occupants was propelled over the center divider and was hit by westbound traffic, the release said.
The Honda’s other two occupants also were struck. It was not clear whether they were still in the vehicle when it was hit by the Ford.
All three victims died at the scene.
The Ford’s driver suffered minor injuries to both arms, the CHP said.
