A 91-year-old Redlands woman was hospitalized Wednesday, Nov. 15, after her sport utility vehicle was in a collision with another SUV at Highland and Wabash avenues in Redlands, according to Redlands police.

The woman, who was not identified by name, was eastbound on Highland, stopped at the intersection, then made a U-turn on the other side of the intersection and, without stopping, proceeded westbound, city spokesman Carl Baker wrote in an email.

Her vehicle was struck by a 2013 Cadillac sport utility vehicle driven by a 59-year-old Yucaipa woman.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals, with the Redlands driver admitted for treatment and the Yucaipa motorist  treated and released.

The accident was reported at 9:36 a.m. and Highland remained closed for about three hours. The accident is under investigation.
