A man was drunk and high on marijuana when he crashed into a pole in Rancho Cucamonga, then tried to run off, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials.
Just before 1 a.m. Thursday, deputies with the Rancho Cucamonga station were called to the area of Rochester Avenue and Eighth Street for a crash, according to Deputy Jacob Bailey.
There they found a wrecked vehicle with the door open but no one was inside, officials said.
RCPD responded to an early AM single vehicle TC. The driver was GOA when deputies arrived, but he was quickly located by @SBCSDAviation a few blocks from the TC. Driver confirmed DUI and booked into WVDC. #UBoozeULose #DontDrinkAndDrive pic.twitter.com/T2GXmwtLmz

A sheriff’s helicopter that was called to help look for the driver spotted a man, later identified as 36-year-old Rancho Cucamonga resident Ray Guzman, walking south on Rochester Avenue away from the crash scene, Bailey said.
“Deputies contacted Guzman and determined he was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana,” Bailey said.
There were no reports of injury.
Guzman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
