A truck driver died Thursday night when his big rig overturned then hit a guard rail and wall on the transition road from the westbound 60 Freeway to the 605 Freeway in Bassett.
Coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter identified the dead man as Jose Escobedo Avila, 54, of Avondale, Ariz.
The preliminary investigation showed Avila was driving a Freightliner, shortly after 10:20 p.m. Thursday, when he failed to negotiate the curve; the big rig rolled onto its left side, struck a guard rail and a concrete wall, the California Highway Patrol said.
