California Highway Patrol officers Tuesday night pursued a vehicle on the northbound 5 Freeway — a chase that ended in Santa Clarita with the driver in custody.
The chase began in El Cajon in San Diego County, went through Orange County and was in the Santa Fe Springs/Norwalk area of Los Angeles County around 9:30 p.m.
By 9:55 p.m. the chase had reached Burbank, KCAL9 reported. TV helicopter footage showed that about 10:15 p.m. the driver stopped the red vehicle in lanes on the 5 in Santa Clarita. CHP officers stopped behind her, and northbound traffic came to a halt. At about 10:22 p.m. officers pulled the driver from the vehicle.
It wasn’t immediately known why the driver had stopped the vehicle or why she had fled police, although KABC reported the driver initially had failed to stop for speeding.
The Nissan Rogue SUV was being driven by a woman, KCAL9 reported.
