Two drivers suffered serious injuries Friday, Nov. 16, in a collision in Corona that shut down an intersection for hours.

The crash happened about 5 p.m. in the 1300 block of W. Sixth Street. A 45-year-old Corona resident was driving a Nissan east on Sixth when he crossed over into the westbound lanes, striking a westbound Kia SUV driven by an 83-year-old San Bernardino resident, Lt. Paul Mercado said.

The Nissan driver was ejected from his car, Mercado said. Both men were taken to Riverside Community Hospital.

Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the collision, Mercado said.

The investigation prompted police to close Sixth between Sherman and Smith avenues for several hours.

Police ask anyone with information on the crash call Officer Tim Nagmulski at 951-736-2330, Option 3.
