Montclair Police arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run collision on Saturday, Dec. 8 that left a bicyclist in critical condition.
Officers responded to a crash reported at about 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Orchard Street and Central Avenue, and found a bicyclist lying unconscious in the street, according to a news release from the Montclair Police Department. It said the victim was transported to a hospital, where he remained in critical condition Sunday.
The driver involved in the collision had fled the scene of the crash, but the suspected involved vehicle was later found by police hidden in the backyard of a residence in Pomona, according to the release.
It said the car’s suspected driver was identified and arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run. Jail records show the suspect, Alejandro Lopez Cuevas, 18, was booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
