Motorist killed in collision on 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga

A motorist — possibly working on his vehicle — was struck and killed Friday night, Jan. 18, on the 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The collision was reported at 7:37 p.m. in the westbound lanes east of Archibald Avenue, the CHP website said.  The crash prompted the Archibald offramp to be shut down. A witness said it appeared a man was doing repairs on his vehicle when he was hit.

Authorities called for the coroner at 7:51 p.m.

A damaged Toyota believed to somehow involved in the collision was found near the intersection of London Avenue and Liberty Street in a nearby residential neighborhood, the CHP log said. A license plate belonging to a Toyota was found in the crash debris, the log said.

No other details on the incident were immediately available Friday.
