Pomona police cancel DUI checkpoint but still searching for drunks

Last Updated on February 14, 2019 by CCAR Staff

The Pomona Police Department announced Friday it has canceled a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint scheduled for this evening.

Officers will be conducting patrols city wide from 10 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.

According to a news release from the department, last year officers responded to 127 DUI-related collisions which killed one person and resulted in another 49 injuries.

In addition to the checkpoints, between 5 and 10 p.m. officers will be conducting a “Know Your Limit” operation in Downtown Pomona and other establishments that serve alcohol. Officers will give patrons a chance to test their alcohol level with a  breathalyzer device and discuss the consequences of drinking and driving.
