A 63-year-old Menifee man has been identified as the motorist who died in a three-car collision that injured another man Saturday.
Frank Dominguez died at the scene in the 7:45 a.m. crash at Newport and Menifee roads in Menifee, the Riverside County Coroner said.
Dominguez was the driver of a BMW coupe which was hit in crash that began when a Honda Crosstour, being driven fast westbound on Newport Road, struck a Dodge Charger, Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Burke wrote in a news release.
The Crosstour driver, whose name was not released, lost control of his car, Burke wrote.
The Crosstour went through the intersection of Newport Road and Menifee Road, hitting the BMW with Dominguez at the wheel as it sat waiting to make a westbound turn onto Newport Road from Menifee Road, Burke wrote.
Evidence was gathered from witness statements as well as a review of surveillance video from nearby businesses. “Driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs is currently being investigated as a possible factor in this collision,” Burke wrote.
The Crosstour driver was hospitalized with what Burke described as non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Charger, a man, escaped injury.
The investigation was continuing Sunday. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Deputy Josh Cail with the Menifee Traffic Team at 951-210-1068 or email JCail@RiversideSheriff.org
