A woman driving with her child was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment after her car crashed into a light pole in Ontario and burst into flames, police said.

Mother and offspring were injured and taken to a hospital, according to Ontario Police Cpl. Eric Quinones. He didn’t know the extent of their injuries.

The crash occurred on Mountain Avenue and Mission Boulevard around 11 p.m. After hitting a light pole, a car caught fire. The driver and her child got out of the vehicle, Quinones said.

Valina Garcia, 24, of Montclair will be booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga once she is released from the hospital, Quinones said.
