Upland police to boost patrols, stage DUI checkpoint for Labor Day holiday

Last Updated on August 15, 2019 by CCAR Staff

Upland drivers beware, police say: Don’t drive under the influence — especially from Friday, Aug. 16, to Monday, Sept. 2.

That’s when the Upland Police Department said it will bolster its street presence in hopes of reducing crashes in which alcohol is involved. The move is part of a national enforcement campaign in the weeks leading up to Labor Day weekend, one of the deadliest of the year, a police news release states.

And at an undisclosed location within the city, police also will stage a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint from 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, to 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, during the holiday weekend.

Those who may be drinking are encouraged to use a ride-share service or a designated, sober driver to get home, the release states.
