An Ontario Police Department officer was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he was ejected from his police motorcycle in a crash on the 215 Freeway in Grand Terrace on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened on the southbound 215 Freeway near Barton Road just after 2:30 p.m., according to logs from the California Highway Patrol. All lanes were briefly closed, except the furthest left lane, due to the crash.
William Russell, spokesman for the Ontario Police Department, confirmed that it was an Ontario PD officer involved in the crash. The officer was transported via airlift to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer was riding an Ontario PD motorcycle when a Toyota Tacoma crashed into the back of his vehicle, according to CHP spokesman Ivan Sandoval. The CHP classified the officer’s injuries as moderate to minor. The driver of the Tacoma was not injured in the crash.
No information was immediately available on the cause of the crash. The CHP’s San Bernardino unit is investigating the crash.
