3 who died in San Bernardino crash identified

Two San Bernardino residents and one from Highland died in a triple-fatality crash in San Bernardino, authorities said.

The deaths occurred when a vehicle crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer near the of 5th Street and Mount Vernon Avenue early Friday morning, Oct. 25, police said.

The vehicle’s driver, Rico Anaya Perez Jr. , 24, of Highland, and passengers Marissa Monique Michelle Ortiz, 23. and Anthony Steven Fernandez, 24, both of San Bernardino, died at the scene, the San Bernardino County Coroner said.

The crash was under investigation, but police said speed appeared to be a factor.
