A Chino man has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run following a street race that ended with the death of a passenger who was in the other car when it crashed, Ontario police said.
The crash happened on Thursday, April 9, at around 3:30 p.m., in the area of Euclid Avenue and Riverside Drive.
Police said two vehicles were speeding with one driver losing control, causing that vehicle to crash into several trees – injuring the driver and killing the passenger.
The name of that passenger hadn’t been released yet, and the driver remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday, April 21, police said.
Ruben Lopez Gomez, 22, was identified as the driver who left after the crash. Police said he drove over the debris from the wrecked vehicle as he fled. He was arrested Friday.
