Westbound traffic on the 91 Freeway in Corona was reduced to a crawl for several hours Friday morning, May 8, after a collision caused a big rig carrying gravel to overturn.
Four of the five lanes were closed for about four hours while crews cleaned up the spill. One of the toll lanes was also closed for a time. The collision, initially involving a sedan and the truck, was reported just before 7 a.m. east of Maple Street, the California Highway Patrol said. All lanes reopened just before 11:30 a.m., Caltrans said.
Other vehicles got caught up in the original crash. There was no immediate word on the cause of the collision or whether anyone was injured. No one at the CHP was available for comment at midday Friday.
