Crash in Claremont leaves 1 dead

CLAREMONT — A motorist who lost control Wednesday afternoon was killed when the vehicle plunged 250 feet down an embankment in Claremont.

The driver lost control about 4:45 p.m. near Mount Baldy Road and North Padua Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Michael Pittman.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was dead when rescue crews arrived, Pittman said.

Information about the victim was not immediately released.
