JURUPA VALLEY — One person was killed and five others were injured Thursday in a two-vehicle collision at a Jurupa Valley intersection.
The crash was reported about 10:20 a.m. at Etiwanda Avenue and Ryder Road, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Two engine crews and a truck company were sent to the location and found three victims trapped and two others standing at the scene.
Firefighters extricated all of the trapped occupants within 15 minutes.
Sheriff’s deputies shut down the intersection to conduct a preliminary investigation.
In a statement, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said arriving deputies found a male adult driver with major injuries in one of the vehicles involved and that he died at the scene. He was not immediately publicly identified.
Four other occupants in that vehicle, including two infants, were transported to local hospitals, where they were reported to be stable, the sheriff’s statement said. The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was also transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
The cause of the crash was under investigation and the Sheriff’s Department said: “No alcohol or drugs are believed to have been a factor in this collision.”
