Mountain biking champion from Menifee dies in motorcycle crash in Temecula

A 39-year-old Menifee resident who was a national champion bicyclist died Tuesday, Jan. 11, from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash on Sunday in Temecula.

Ryan Fedorow’s girlfriend, Lauren Evans, was critically injured in the crash and was scheduled to have several surgeries.

The crash was reported at 7:50 p.m. on Butterfield Stage Road just north of Pauba Road, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office said. No other details on the crash were available Wednesday. Fedorow was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center, where he died at 1:27 p.m.

The Racer X  website said that Fedorow trained other motocross riders  Fedorow said on his Instagram page that he won two national mountain biking championships and four Sea Otter Classics, which are held annually in Monterey. Fedorow once lived in Orange, and in 2011, finished second in the Ladera Ranch Grand Prix of Cycling.

Evans was in a coma before awakening on Tuesday, according to a post on the GoFundMe page established to raise money for her medical expenses. She was due to have surgery Wednesday on one of her arms that suffered several breaks.
