MADERA —  A collision involving three vehicles on Highway 41 near Avenue 15 left one person dead, according to officers from California Highway Patrol.

CHP Madera officers report that they received a call about a collision at 8:16 AM.

CHP officers responded to the call and found three cars, one woman dead and one other person seriously injured.

According to officers, a Toyota Corolla and a RAM pickup truck were travelling northbound. They believe that the Corolla struck the pickup sending it into the southbound lane. It then collided head-on with a BMW.

According to CHP officials, the Corolla driver died on the spot. The BMW driver suffered major injuries and had to be taken to the local hospital. The driver of the pick-up was uninjured.

Although the cause of this crash remains under investigation, CHP officers state that alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor.
