One person was pronounced dead early Sunday morning following a traffic collision late Saturday night on Interstate 15 northbound near Barstow.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the incident was reported at 11:55 p.m. The problem was initially logged as a traffic collision with unknown injuries and later changed to a fatality at 5:59 a.m. No ambulance requests or CPR efforts were noted in the logs.
Logs indicate a red Lexus sedan was on the right hand side. A female started walking away from the vehicle northbound. She was in the vehicle with a friend, and keys were still with the vehicle.
Additional details state a red sedan or SUV was speeding at 100 mph, swerved into the center divider and collided with a disabled recreational vehicle on the right hand side. Debris was scattered all over the road.
An open line call was received with no distress heard. The vehicle possibly left the scene.
Units were assigned starting at 11:57 p.m. and cleared the scene by 12:48 a.m.
Identities and causes were not immediately available.
