A fatal crash on westbound Interstate 210 near State Street in San Bernardino killed at least one person Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:04 p.m., prompting emergency response to the scene. CHP dispatch logs indicate a black Kia SUV blocked the right shoulder of the freeway following the collision. Multiple CHP units arrived at the location within minutes, with the first officers reaching the scene by 8:11 p.m.
Authorities notified the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office, which was expected to arrive within four minutes of the initial call. The CHP confirmed the fatal outcome shortly after arriving on scene. Officials have not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
The crash caused significant disruption to traffic on Interstate 210 as officers investigated and cleared the area. Details regarding the number of vehicles involved, the cause of the crash, and whether additional injuries occurred remain under investigation.
CHP officers remained at the scene for more than 15 minutes, coordinating with other emergency responders and managing traffic. The freeway’s right shoulder was blocked by the damaged Kia SUV during the response.
