SFPD Makes Arrest in Bayview District Homicide 23-101(a)

On Friday, August 4, 2023, at approximately 11:10 p.m., SFPD officers responded to the 1000 block of Quesada Ave. for possible gunshots they heard and reports of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene who transported the victim to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of officers, emergency responders, and hospital staff, the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  

 Investigators from the San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail arrived on scene and took lead of the investigation. Through the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as 35-year-old San Francisco resident Shilo Mitchell. 

On December 5, 2023, SFPD officers from Northern station were patrolling the area of the 1100 block of Fillmore Street when they recognized Mitchell from his outstanding warrant and placed him under arrest without incident.  

Mitchell was booked at San Francisco County Jail on the charge of homicide (187 PC).
