On June 5, 2023, at approximately 11:52 a.m., San Francisco Police officers from Mission Station responded to the area of 18th and Hartford Streets for a report of an aggravated assault. Dispatch obtained a description of the suspect and broadcast it to the responding officers.
Officers located a male that matched the description in the area of Dolores Park. As officers attempted to detain the suspect, the suspect fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, officers detained the suspect in the area of 18th and Church Streets.
Officers met with the victims, a 40-year-old male and a 58-year-old male, who stated the unknown male suspect was following them on foot while simultaneously aggressively shouting anti-LGBTQ language. The suspect then threw a glass object at them causing the 40-year-old male victim to sustain a non-life-threatening injury.
During the investigation, officers developed probable cause to arrest the 20-year-old male suspect, identified as Muhammed Abdullah.
