Police in Menifee believe Mauricio Mendez caused a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon that ended his life and sent several passengers of a Riverside Transit Authority bus to area hospitals and trauma centers.

The 28-year-old Chino man was allegedly weaving through traffic in his Ford Mustang moments before police say he drove in the path of a Riverside Transit bus at Ehanac and Matthews roads.

Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene, about 15 minutes after the 3:15 p.m. crash.  Several passengers of the bus were brought to area trauma centers and hospitals.
